Senior Historian, David Naumec, presenting at the Gill Landholder Meeting held October 27, 2015.

On October 27, 2015 landowners of Gill attended an informational session concerning archaeology possibilities associated with the National Park Service American Battlefield Protection Program grant “Battle of Great Falls / Wissantinnewag-Peskeompskut” awarded to the Town of Montague. With landowner permission archaeological investigations may be conducted to identify artifacts associated with King Philip’s War. If artifacts associated with the King Philip’s War are identified they will be used to assess the integrity, boundaries and significance of the battlefield site for eventual inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Any artifacts found associated with King Philip’s War will be donated to the National Park Service and curated in a repository that meets the standards of the National Park Service.
